拉钢式和往复多爪推齿式两种冷床对于圆钢都不太适用，容易拉斜、滚乱。冷却圆钢（管坯）以使用链式冷床较好，上钢一厂、大连钢厂的650轧钢车间都采用链式冷床，两者所不同之处在于：上钢一厂的圆钢搁在台架上，链条拉着圆钢缓慢前进，由于圆钢单重较大，一般不会乱滚。大连钢厂的圆钢直接搁在链条上，冷床报价，前进过程中圆钢与链条无相对运动。两种链式冷床使用单位反映都较好。
