Structure and characteristics of LLDPE: the structural chain of LLDPE is flexible and linear long chain, so LLDPE is a thermoplastic polymer with excellent flexibility. According to its chemical composition and molecular chain structure, it is essentially a high molecular weight alkane chain hydrocarbon without polar groups, so the attraction between molecular chains is ***all. The spatial arrangement of LLDPE chains is planar serrated. Because of the regularity and flexibility of the molecular chain, the molecular chain can be folded repeatedly and arranged orderly to form crystals. Infrared spectrum shows that LLDPE molecular chain contains very few short branches, but the number and degree of the branches of LLDPE obtained by different polymerization methods are quite different. The amount of branched chain is explained by the amount of Ch in LLDPE molecular chain measured by infrared spectroscopy. The results show that there are about 5-10 Ch in every 1000 carbon atoms of lldp chain. The molecular chain of HDPE obtained by low pressure method contains only 5-7 ch per 1000 carbon atoms, and the chain of HDPE by medium pressure method has less ch. If the molecular chain of polyethylene is a complete linear structure, it should contain only 1-2 ch per 1000 carbon atoms, because in this ideal case, ch can only exist at both ends of the molecular chain. The existence of branched chains will inevitably affect the repeated folding and tight stacking of LLDPE molecular chains, resulting in the decrease of crystallinity and density. The existence of branched chain will not only affect the density of LLDPE, but also affect the fluidity of LLDPE melt. The above structural characteristics of LLDPE determine that LLDPE has a series of excellent properties, such as chemical inertia, good toughness and low temperature resistance, excellent dielectric and electrical insulation, excellent solvent resistance, etc., but the mechanical properties other than toughness are not very high.
LLDPE performance: LLDPE can be regarded as high molecular weight straight chain alkane, which is white waxy solid in appearance, slightly horny, odorless, tasteless and non-toxic. Except for the film, other products are opaque, which is due to the high crystallinity of LLDPE products. According to the shape of stress-strain curve, LLDPE is a typical soft and tough polymer. Among the indexes of mechanical properties, except for the high impact strength, other mechanical properties are lower in plastic materials. This is because LLDPE molecular chain is a flexible chain, and there is no polar group, and the attraction between molecular chains is ***all. At room temperature, the amorphous part of LLDPE molecular chain is in a high elastic state, which should not h***e bearing capacity. However, because LLDPE is a polymer with high crystallinity, the crystalline structure of the crystalline part, that is, the tight stacking of molecular chains gives the material a certain bearing capacity. The structural factors that affect the mechanical properties of LLDPE are: firstly, the density of LLDPE increases, the mechanical properties except toughness, including hardness and stiffness. LLDPE's thermal deformation temperature is very low in plastic materials, and there are also differences in different polyethylene's thermal deformation temperature. Its hygroscopicity is very ***all, less than 0.01%, which makes its electrical performance not affected by the change of environmental humidity. LLDPE is chemically inert, not affected by non oxidizing acids, amines, salts, etc., nor by dilute sulfuric acid or dilute nitric acid at room temperature. However, the mechanical and electrical properties of LLDPE are deteriorated by the oxidation of concentrated sulfuric acid, concentrated nitric acid sulfuric acid and chromic acid. LLDPE under the action of many active substances will produce "stress cracking phenomenon, known as environmental stress cracking, which is a unique phenomenon of polyolefin plastics, especially polyethylene.
LLDPE application: LLDPE is one of the plastic varieties with large output and wide application. LLDPE was originally used for high-frequency insulation. Nowadays, in addition to high-frequency insulation, its main uses include the following aspects: (1) extrusion or calendering of various films. LLDPE is widely used in agricultural, seedling raising, vegetable greenhouse, horticultural, packaging and publication plastic film covers. In addition to LLDPE's own single-layer film, it can also be laminated with other materials to form composite films. (2) LLDPE can make various industrial and daily containers, such as oil barrels, beer cans, material barrels, bottles, beverage bottles, milk bottles, drug packaging bottles, detergent bottles and other packaging containers of various shapes and sizes, which are made of polyethylene.
