CompactPCI | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The CompactPCI standard uses the same electrical and logic interface as desktop PCI’s, but in another physical form factor, namely the Eurocard standard. CompactPCI’s takes advantages of the same development tools and software as standard PCs. Therefore the user’s threshold is low. The standard supports twice as many slots as a desktop PCI (8 vs. 4). It is far more robust and offers better cooling and EMC screening. Today, CompactPCI’s also cover addendums and initiatives as PICMG 2.16 and CompactPCI Express.
