F.I.C.E.M. manufactures AC electric motors for steel plants, as well as electric motors and pumps for general industrial use. Their steel plant AC electric motors are ***ailable with motor speeds from 16 to 30 poles and with foot or flange type mounting. They also manufacture roller table motors that are primarily used to drive conveying rolls in rolling mills.

F.I.C.E.M. (Fabbrica Italiana Costruzioni Elettromeccaniche Milano) was established in 1947 and over the past thirty years, has made remarkable progress from both a technical and production-related viewpoint.  By the middle of the 1960s, F.I.C.E.M. was able to boast an 800- strong staff, and a strong sales structure with representatives and warehouses in every region in Italy and exports to North Africa and USA.  The social changes which took place between the end of the 1960s and the first half of the 1970s and the liberalization of the markets meant a structure of such dimensi*** was no longer competitive, leading to the closure of production at the end of the 1970s.

As happens ever more frequently in deindustrialized areas, some manual workers and technicians decided to continue the business, albeit with a reduced cycle and almost nonexistent financial resources.
