The front-facing buses accommodate a variety of function ca*** to house interface converters, NTUs, line drivers, and more. The corresponding rear-facing buses receive a variety of interface ca*** with a wide selection of data connectors: RJ-11, RJ-45, D-Style, fiber, and M-type.
The ca*** are protocol independent and pass all appropriate data, clocking, and control signals. You can swap function ca*** and interface ca*** when your system changes. You can even hot-swap ca*** on the fly without shutting down.
